We are deeply privileged to have the use of the old quarry on the Ellingham Estate as our home range.
This unique and scenic location provides an exceptional space for safe, responsible shooting.
Our continued use of the site depends on our conduct and care — the estate reserves the right to withdraw access at short notice if we are not good stewards of the land.
As such, every member and guest has a shared responsibility to uphold the highest standards of safety, environmental care, and respect for the estate.
We are committed to maintaining a positive, long-term relationship with the landowners through responsible use, open communication, and unwavering professionalism.
1. Safety and Legal Compliance
Strict range discipline: Ensure all shooters follow range safety rules at all times.
Flags and Clear signage: Post signs indicating that a live-fire range is in use, with access controls where appropriate.
Insurance and liability cover: Maintain appropriate insurance and indemnity cover for use of the land as a shooting range.
Licensing and law compliance: Ensure all shooting activities comply with local and national laws (e.g., firearms control, noise, environmental).
2. Environmental Care
Litter and brass collection: Always leave the site cleaner than you found it. Remove all brass, targets, patches, and general litter after each shoot.
No damage to natural features: Avoid shooting at rocks, trees, or anything that forms part of the quarry’s natural or historical environment.
Target stands and materials: Use removable or portable target stands to avoid permanent alterations or degradation of the ground.
3. Noise Management
Time limitations: Stick strictly to agreed shooting hours, and avoid excessive noise outside those times.
Suppressors and sensible calibres: Encourage the use of suppressors where legal and practical, and avoid overly loud calibres or explosive targets.
4. Respect for the Landowner’s Needs
Access coordination: Respect any restrictions on access, such as during estate events, hunting seasons, or conservation efforts.
Prompt communication: Keep the estate informed of your shooting calendar and promptly notify them of any incidents or concerns.
Emergency plan: Have a documented plan for medical or fire emergencies and make sure estate staff know who to contact if needed.
5. Community Image and Conduct
Polite and professional behaviour: Everyone using the range should act respectfully and professionally, especially when interacting with estate staff or members of the public.
Controlled numbers: Keep group sizes reasonable, especially during practice or informal sessions.
Vehicle use: Stick to designated paths or roads to avoid damaging the landscape.
6. Record-Keeping and Transparency
Log of range use: Keep a range log showing who used the range, when, and for what purpose.
Incident reporting: Maintain a record of any safety issues, near-misses, or disciplinary actions.
